Whether he’s playing in a classical orchestra, in a rock or a country band, in a world music or jazz ensemble, William Lamoureux stands out for his remarkable stage presence, his charisma and his excellent technique on the violin. William is involved in a number of high profile projects including the Playground Project, a one-man-band act where he interprets well-known pop tunes arranged live on stage with vocals, violin, percussion and effects pedals. He is the founder of the exciting francophone rock group, Billy Love Band recently nominated for Trille Or Awards as Best EP and as Medias’ Choice. He is also a member of the gypsy jazz quartet Gypsy Muse, and the world music quartet So Long Seven, who were nominated as instrumental group of the year at the Folk Music Awards 2019. in 2019-2020, he appears on stage with Jasper Gahunia playing their original music live with the RUBBERBANDance Group in its latest creation, Ever So Slightly, throughout Canada and the United States. In addition, he is a featured artist at ONQ Live Entertainment, Tip Top Entertainement and Bongo and B Entertainment in Toronto.

William studied classical violin for nine years at the Québec Music Conservatory under Christian Vachon and Alexandre Da Costa, before entering Humber College. He perfected his approach to many styles of popular music under Drew Jurecka (violin), Alastair Kay, Ted Quinlan, Kirk McDonald & Pat LaBarbara (improvisation) and Denzal Sinclaire & Elaine Overholt (voice). He has opened for or shared the stage with artists such as Christian McBride, Shawn Phillips, Harry Manx, New Cities, Les Colocs, Loco Locass, Roch Voisine, Roddy Ellias, The New York Voices and Larry Goldings, among others.

William is in high demand as a studio musician, as a composer, as an arranger, as a producer, as a sideman and as a performer in numerous private events. His primary instrument is violin but he is also a singer, guitarist, mandolinist, ukulelist and keyboardist.
