Yvann Alexandre

Dès ses débuts, les moteurs de création d’Yvann Alexandre découlent de la rencontre humaine. Il démarre ses processus par la transmission, pour cheminer ensuite à l’écriture d’une œuvre. Il est un chorégraphe qui regarde le monde, droit dans la danse, qui cartographie précisément l’écho du monde en lui, avec attention, délicatesse, absorbant les fluctuations passagères, les aléas, demain est avant tout une chorégraphie qui s’ignore. Avec un attachement particulier à l’écriture du mouvement et ce, avec fidélité à la notion de ligne, il s’est imposé comme le représentant d’une danse abstraite. Sa gestuelle très précise fourmille de détails et s’organise comme une calligraphie de l’intime. Sa manière de composer sur partition avec une notation personnelle se permet de s’affranchir aujourd’hui de ses propres codes, au profit d’une interaction directe avec les interprètes. La compagnie yvann alexandre fêtera la saison prochaine 30 ANS DE DANSE!

Né à La Roche-Sur-Yon en 1976, Yvann Alexandre débute en amicale laïque et au conservatoire de sa ville de naissance, puis à celui de la Rochelle. Il poursuit son parcours à Montpellier au sein d’Epsedanse et fréquente en parallèle le CCN de Montpellier nouvellement dirigé par Mathilde Monnier. C’est donc à seize ans qu’il compose ses premières pièces, et crée sa compagnie en 1993 à Montpellier. Il réalise sa première création pour les Hivernales d’Avignon et Montpellier Danse. En plus de ses créations, présentées sur de nombreuses scènes et festivals prestigieux en France et à l’étranger, il est aussi l’invité des Conservatoires nationaux Supérieurs de Paris et de Lyon, de Québec et de Montréal, ou encore du Centre Chorégraphique National de Nancy et de la Nordwest Tanzcompagnie en Allemagne.

En parallèle de son travail de créateur, il assume également la direction artistique du Théâtre Francine Vasse à Nantes avec un projet innovant qui démarre par la transmission pour arriver à l’œuvre : Les Laboratoires Vivants.

Elon Höglund

Born in Stockholm Sweden, Elon discovered his love for dance through breaking and Hip Hop at the age of seven. In parrallel to his love of Hip Hop, Elon has since an early age had a deep interest for Martial arts and has trained extensively in various forms: kung fu, capoeira, tae kwon do. Dance and movement evoked in him a realization of purpose, and he went on to find further inspiration in other street styles, theater and contemporary dance, which eventually lead to the creation of his own movement approach. Since 2001, Elon has performed and choreographed fusion-style contemporary works for theatre, dance and contemporary circus productions.

In 2005, he was hired by Cirque Du Soleil to be part of the creation of The Beatles LOVE Show in Las Vegas, in which he performed and choreographed his own solo. Since then, Elon has performed all over North America, Europe and Asia with the companies Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Bboyizm and Rubberbandance. He has worked with choreographers such as Dave St-Pierre, Daniel Ezralow, Mourad Merzouki, Victor Quijada and Koen Augustijnen.

In 2012 he co-founded Tentacle Tribe with choreographer Emmanuelle Lê Phan creating magnetic pieces such as Body to Body, When They Fall, Nobody Likes a Pixelated Squid, Fractals of you and Threesixnine, which have been presented in over 45 international cities. Their dance films: Elon & Emmanuelle, Vanishing Points and Crack the Cypher have received prizes at many film festivals. Elon’s interest in pedagogy led him to develop and teach the Tentacle Tribe approach at Arizona State University, York University, DOCH (University for Dance and Circus in Stockholm) and at countless workshops all over the world.

Elon is also a member of Montreal’s Fresh Format B-boy crew and Stockholm’s Concrete Kingz.

Elon is currently working on “Immersive Storytelling” and immersive experience in collaboration with Anna Höglund.

Daina Ashbee

Artist, performer and choreographer based in Canada, known for her radical works at the edge of dance and performance. At the young age of 26, she had already won two awards for her choreographies. She was a double prizewinner at the Prix de la danse de Montréal, winning both the Prix du CALQ for Best Choreography of 2015-2016 for her choreographic installation When the Ice Melts, Will We Drink the Water?, and the Prix Découverte de la danse, presented by Agora de la danse and Tangente, for Unrelated (her first choreography). Daina was named by the prestigious German TANZ magazine as one of 30 promising artists for the year 2017 and named one of 25 to watch by the American publication, DANCE in 2018. In 2019, she won a New York Dance and Performance Award, Bessie, for Outstanding Choreographer. In 2020 Daina received a fellowship award from Springboard Danse Montreal. In 2021, at the age of 30, she had two separate Retrospectives of her performance artworks; one in Montpellier, France and the second in Montreal, Canada.

Recognized as one of the most promising young choreographers of the next generation, since 2015 her work has been presented over one-hundred times in 15 countries and over 33 different cities. Her work being presented in some of the most prestigious festivals (The Venice Biennale, Oktoberdans, the Munich Dance Biennale, Montpellier Danse) and on the stages of the world (Canada, France, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Greenland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico).

In 2020 she relocated to Gabriola Island, British Columbia where she re-sources her creative and energetic practices close to the rain forest on the west coast of Canada while she is not touring or creating abroad. She continues to tour regularly in Europe, Canada and the United States. In 2020 two new pieces were released: a male solo, Laborious Song and a group piece, J’ai pleuré avec les chiens (later re-named TIME, CREATION, DESTRUCTION in 2021.)

Daina has also started another group piece Te Daré Una Buena Noticia Cada Vez Que Respire with 10 performers. In 2021 Daina presented 5 of her original works at Montpellier Dance Festival: Unrelated (2014), Pour (2016), When the ice melts, will we drink the water? (2016), Serpentine (2017) and Laborious Song (2020). Daina presented 4 of her original works at Usine-C titled <<Daina Ashbee Retrospective>> which featured Unrelated, Pour, When the ice melts, will we drink the water? and Laborious Song in October 2021.

She is also a teacher of movement, choreography and therapeutic practices. She has taught at the Venice Biennale College in Venice, Italy, as a guest at The University of Stavanger, Norway and at The University of the Arts in Philedelphia U.S.A. Daina presented her workshops at Nulty Bod/ZeroPoint Festival in Prague, in Guadalajara, Mexico, across Canada and especially in Montreal, Quebec., for the past 13 years. In 2022 she will teach in Costa Rica and accross Canada.

Julia-Maude Cloutier

Julia-Maude Cloutier est interprète, chorégraphe et enseignante. En tant qu’interprète, elle évolue dans avec les compagnies Fleuve Espace danse (Le Souffle de l’Aube 2016, Méduse) , Le fils d’Adrien danse (Exil), Danse K par K (Danse de salon, Osez! ), Code Universel (Les Veillées) et la chorégraphe Mélissa Martin. Elle est cofondatrice, avec Amélie Gagnon, de la compagnie de danse contemporaine le CRue, spécialisée en danse in situ, vidéo-danse et performances multidisciplinaires. Elle est passionnée de mouvement sous toutes ses formes : équilibres sur les mains, art du déplacement, skateboard, etc. Elle voit dans la danse un grand potentiel de rencontre et cherche à atténuer la barrière entre « spectateurs » et « performeurs ».
